Coming up to Easter many of the classes have been learning about Holy Week. The school is all very excited about the Easter Raffle coming up soon on the 29th of March. In writing, preps are learning new strategies, numbers and letters. In the past week there have been athletics trials for the 3’s-6’s. Lots of students joined in and had a great time. Many students were very supportive and encouraging to fellow classmates and congrats to all those students getting through to inter-school athletics. Also a huge Congrats to Kiera Cooper who is unfortunately the only one going through to the next stage in swimming. Well Done Kiera. With only a week of Term 1 left, everybody is getting excited for school holidays and Easter.
In Grade 1, they have been learning about many things. In math they have been learning to count by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. They have also been learning about the seasons of the year. In spelling they have been learning the vowels and how to use them in words. In Integrated Studies they have been learning about bugs, getting fit and being nice.
Around the school many events have been happening. The Grade Sixes got their new jumpers finally after many mix-ups, but are very happy with the results. There has also been athletic trials which were very exciting, some people getting a little bit competitive. Hopefully everyone has been enjoying their term and the rest of their term goes well.
On the 16th of March all grade fives and sixes went to athletics and they did a very good job making their mums and dads proud of them. When coming back from school the teachers gave them a treat because of all the hard work they had done.Coming up to Easter, classes are putting in Easter gifts for our Easter raffle to be held at the end of term assembly. This is when the kids get very excited because of the chocolate that is going around the school. We have also have had a special treat these last couple of weeks because of all the fundraising that we have been doing like, the Grade Fours having an icy pool stall, the Grade Fives having an odd sock day and they both raised money for Caritas. Hopefully all of the students keep their work up for the rest of the term and have a good break.
Leading up to Easter this year, all grades have been working really hard and putting in a lot of effort to finish all the work they need to. The preps have been working on reading strategies: trying Lion, stretchy snake and eagle eye. They have also been working on religion and learning about Palm Sunday. A big event coming up for the school on the 29th of March is the Easter raffle where a lot of people win prizes that they get to go home with. On the 16th of March all the grade 5’s and 6’s participated in athletics trials where everyone did great and I’m sure their mums and dads would of been really proud. On the 23rd of March all Grade 3’s and 4’s also participated in athletic trials and I’m sure they did great as well.
