Faith

Holy Cross Catholic Primary School is a faith community, inspired by the teachings of Jesus. Children are supported to grow in their relationship with God and to act with love and compassion as active members of their community.

Our Faith program is developed from the Religious Education Curriculum Framework (Catholic Education Archdiocese of Melbourne) and Catholic Social Teaching Principles.

Children come to know the traditions of our faith through a variety of innovative and engaging methods such as daily prayer, Christian Meditation, Prayer Gatherings, excursions, class Masses and formal classroom lessons which include multi faith perspectives.

At Holy Cross, significant events and feasts on the Catholic calendar are celebrated as a community. The seasons of Lent, Advent and The Feast of the Holy Cross are observed through coming together and learning about the beliefs and traditions of the Catholic church and the importance of what it means to be part of a Catholic Community.

Our Sacramental program is held in conjunction with our local community and the Parish of St Brigid’s.Our celebrations include:

Reconciliation (Year 3)
First Eucharist (Year 4)
Confirmation (Year 6)

Through engaging in Faith at Holy Cross, children are encouraged to promote the mission of the Church by living out Gospel values in their daily lives. Our motto, ‘Leading us to God’s mountain’ is a reflection of our unique setting at the foot of Mount Macedon. We aim to create a faith filled community through dialogue with our own faith and interfaith perspectives.

 “Send forth your light and your truth,

let them guide me;

let them bring me to your holy mountain,

to the place where you dwell.”

~Psalm 43:3
